During the summer season (1.6. - 30.9.) the Dom pod Storžičem is open every day.
Outside the season (1.10. - 31.5.) we are open on weekends, from 1 pm on Friday until Sunday evening. For groups, we can also open during the week upon prior arrangement.
In winter, if the snow conditions are favorable, the Dom may also be open during the week.
During the winter season, the Storžič Mountain Hut is popular among sledders, while in the warmer months, it attracts all lovers of hiking, mountaineering, mountain biking, and nature. It is located at an altitude of 1123 meters on the edge of the Jesenje Alpine pasture above the upper end of the Lom Valley, under the northern wall of Storžič. Tržič mountaineers first established a mountain shelter under Storžič in 1938 in a rented shepherd's hut, and the new hut was opened in 1951. Over the years, it has been renovated several times, most recently in 2022, when we acquired new bathrooms with showers and renovated rooms.
During the summer season, the hut is open every day, while during other times of the year it is only open on weekends. If conditions are favorable for sledding, the hut may open outside of regular hours. The hut's dining area and classroom can accommodate 100 seats, while the 8 rooms have 70 beds. The hut is an excellent starting point for family outings, and it have conceptually designed children's playground built on the beautifully landscaped terrace. Pets are also welcome.
In 2016, the Turn Cycling Education Center (TKUC) was established as part of the hut, which boasts two cycling trails and all the necessary infrastructure for cycling guests, including a bike wash, service workshop, bike storage room, washing and drying machine... There is also a modern classroom with a projector and Wi-Fi connection inside the dining area, enabling the organization of seminars, lectures, team building events... The hut also has a "mountaineering library" with plenty of great mountain literature that visitors can enjoy in peace on their couch.

A varied and excellent culinary offer
there is always time for rest and a delicious hot meal. The hut is well known for its excellent food, traditionally prepared on a special wood stove. Their specialties include stews, various types of štruklji (traditional Slovenian dish similar to dumplings), and four types of zavitek (rolled pastry filled with different ingredients). After enjoying the tasty food, you can order coffee in a souvenir mug, which you can then take home with you. During the season, they also offer weekend mountaineering lunches (meat and vegetarian).
